On Thursday, November 19, 2020, Michael Block from Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club was awarded the California Golf Course Owner's Association (CGCOA) Employee Excellence Award.
The award was presented during the 2020 Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony. This year the event was held virtually due to Covid 19.
The CGCOA's Employee Excellence Award recognizes an individual who has reflected positively on the golf course operation and the game of golf through the demonstration of exceptional customer service skills, leadership and teamwork. The award is intended to reinforce the importance of creating and exceptional experience for all customers who enter CGCOA member properties.
Michael Block is the head golf pro at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club. He's a competitive golfer who as played in the Farmers and the PGA Championship among many other tournaments. Last year he set the Arroyo Trabuco course record with a 59. And as this award shows he is a dedicated professional here at the club.
In presenting the award the CGCOA shared that it was not his accomplishments as a golfer that earned him the recognition, but rather his customer service, teaching skills, and role as an ambassador of the game. They said, "Couple those traits with his preparation and sportsmanship on the course, and the decision to recognize Michael as the CGCOA Employee Excellence Award recipient was obvious."
"Michael has worked as a teaching professional at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club for 16 years, and his charisma and enjoyable personality enable him to engage and connect with his students, increasing his student's interest and allowing for clear and effective instruction. Combining his professional golf experience and over a decade of instructional knowledge, Michael is able to work with golfers of all levels to increase their golf ability and lower their scores.
