Flags Will Fly At Arroyo Trabuco For The Holiday

After a receiving an overwhelming positive response on Memorial Day, the American flag pins will be used again throughout the Labor Day weekend.

Arroyo Trabuco General Manager Geoff Cram said the pins will be placed from Fri.-Mon. They were used for the first time at Arroyo on Memorial Day after being installed by new superintendent Michael Wolpoff.

“We received a very positive response from our guests, both military and non-military, when we used these flags on Memorial Day,” Cram said. “Putting these flags out is a small token of our appreciation for the sacrifices that all military personnel make to help protect our freedoms!”

Arroyo Trabuco Announces New Superintendent Michael Wolpoff

In January, Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club welcomed new superintendent Michael Wolpoff to the staff to oversee golf course maintenance and set a new standard for course conditions at our club.

Wolpoff is a Michigan native and previously worked at Friendly Hills Country Club in Whittier, Seacliff Country Club in Huntington Beach, Red Sky Golf Club in Colorado and Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Wolpoff began his new position at Arroyo Trabuco on Jan. 2nd and said he inherited a course he admires and for which he sees great potential.

“It’s an inviting course and a fun course,” he said. “It’ll be even more fun when we get the conditions closer to where we’d like to see it.”

One of Wolpoff’s goals is to achieve consistent course conditions throughout the year – and he said golfers will notice a difference in how the course plays.

“Water management is going to be a big part of it,” he said. “We’re not going to get down to brown and dry, but we’re going to aim to keep things firmer and faster with fewer wet spots to drive through.”

Maintaining premium green conditions will be a priority. “We have made a huge commitment to our guests to improve the putting surfaces and keeping them consistent. I think we’ve got a good game plan for healthy greens throughout the year,” he said. “After looking at what’s been done in the past, I think we can be pretty successful in that regard.”

Since his arrival, Wolpoff has been active on social media. You can follow him on Twitter (@atgcsuper). Wolpoff said his goal is to better communicate current course conditions to golfers, meaning such things as course projects, frost delays, etc. Take a look at the tweet embedded below.

“I’m trying to post things that are interesting and relevant to what’s going on,” he said.

How We Roll In 2017: Check Out Our New Golf Carts!

One of many reasons to get excited about the 2017 golf season at Arroyo Trabuco? New golf carts!

We’ve updated our entire fleet of 96 and they’ve already hosted many happy riders in the new year.

Highlights of the upgraded carts:

  • Upgraded GPS with vibrant colors and a touch screen to help you accurately gauge yardages
  • USB ports
  • Coolers

Arroyo Trabuco Club Manager/Director of Golf Geoff Cram said the new carts have received an enthusiastic response from golfers.

“The GPS is greatly upgraded and the coolers will allow people to carry cold water on hot days and they think that’s great,” he said. “(The new carts) just make for an overall improved playing experience.”

The new carts are also a boon to the course staff. They can be monitored and controlled remotely to assist with pace of play, but also from a maintenance perspective, the staff can identify issues such as a battery not fully charging.

“We can troubleshoot issues before they even happen, which benefits everybody,” he said.

Come check out the new carts during your next round with us! We hope to see you soon!
